Milkyway over Fylingdales Moor

The Milkyway rising over Langdale Forest and Blakey Topping in the early hours of the morning. RAF Fylingdales guarding over our skies to the left. Surprisingly this isn’t even the galactic core but the winter constellations of the Milkyway Cassiopeia, Cygnus, the Great Rift and Scutum. But the detail is incredible shot at 50mm giving a really high definition panorama. Later in the early hours before sunrise the Milkyway Core starts to rise towards the south as we head into Core season.
Have had this composition in mind all year and finally had a calm and clear night high on the moors to shoot. And to make things even better I got to use my new Zeiss 50mm Plannar T* lens for the first time and was so impressed with how sharp it is. Such a good lens for low light astrophotography.
A lot of thinking, hard work and time goes into making panoramas like this. Not only from going out shooting loosing a nights sleep but also the post processing, not to mention the times having to retry after failed attempts of panos that sometimes just don’t stitch.
