A good start to 2025. I am very excited to be releasing my dark skies film ‘10 Years of Dark Skies in the North York Moors’ & ‘Yorkshire Coast’ which will go public on YouTube at the beginning of this years Dark Skies Festival 10th anniversary commissioned by the North York Moors National Park.
Also a few of my framed stills will be in the Inspired by Gallery exhibition beginning 15th February.
The YouTube film will be in 4K and best viewed on a larger screen
Nearly 10 years ago I started my astrophotography journey and not long after I became obsessed with making timelapse sequences. I made it my goal to one day make a timelapse film and 90% of this has been photographed in the North York Moors National Park, so essentially the film must be called ‘10 years of Dark Skies in the NYMNP’ and ‘Yorkshire Coast’.
The main purpose of this video is to make people aware of the impacts of light pollution and simple steps that can be made to lighting to protect the National Park environment, wildlife and not just stargazing. The orange sunset looking sky-glow on many of these clips demonstrates how far light pollution spreads and doesn’t just stay in the towns and cities.
A big thank you to the North York Moors National Park for commissioning my film.
